I recently received Pantone's color report for 2010. Although, I don't decorate according to color trends, I still find the information very interesting. Going forward, neutrals are apparently taking center stage. So much so, that Pantone has added a neutral palette this year to the forecast.
"Design and color trends are not conjured up in a crystal ball—they are the result of much
observation of the surrounding natural world, as well as the influences that will impact the world
of the future according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and
head of the Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training. They include the social issues,
the economy, technology, lifestyles and play styles, diversions, entertainments and most
importantly, the needs, moods, fantasies and aspirations of consumers that are then translated
into appropriate styling, colors and combinations. The following palettes, which Eiseman calls
“most directional” are taken from the Pantone® View home + interiors 2010 forecast.
So what palette appeals to you? Is there an individual color that beckons you? I'm loving Smoke Blue from the Gatherings Collection. Overall, the High Def collection is the most "me".

Oooh I love Smoke Blue too! It's almost exactly what I have in mind for my front door. I think we'll probably go with that color, a few shades darker.

I'm going to have to go with Ambiance and Tinged Neutrals for myself. Big surprise, right?! I like pops color but I also love being soothed in my home. Yes, I received the ever so necessary Excel sheet. Thank you. I will be cross referencing it and adding to it I'm sure. High Point ~ here we come!

It's interesting that they said "Historically neutrals are used more when the economy is bad". I just picked out a neutral linen for a bedroom redo that 4 years ago I used a very colorful stripe for.
