This reader recently purchased this chandelier for their 12 ft tall entryway. They want to know how high to hang it. I get asked this question a lot. The "rule of thumb" is to hang it so that the bottom of the chandelier is 6' 8" from the floor. This works for the majority of cases except mine. If you have a member of the household that is 6' 8" or taller you need to hang it so it is a bit taller than that person. As I've mentioned earlier my hubby is 6" 8" so I hang ours 6' 9" (if my ceilings are that tall).
SOLUTION

Hmmmm..... so that's how you do it :)

Extraordinary chandelier. It looks like a match for a 12' ceiling. Glad to know how high.

That chandy is awesome!! It is Suzanne Kasler's (an Atlanta designer) design for Visual Comforts Lighting. She also has an upholstery line for Hickory Chair, and a rug line for Safavieh Rugs. These are all preferred vendors I use in my design work. I love her stuff. She is an amazing humble talent who I had the pleasure of meeting this spring in Highpoint at the Safavieh Launch Party. I might have to do a SK post in the future.
